Open Divisions

JUGGERNAUT DIVISION (1993/1994)
This division was designed to act as a showcase for all 1993 and 1994 born players, as they are some of the most talented players in our program.  This division is limited to ONLY 1993 and 1994 born players.  The only exception would be allowing a younger goaltender if absolutely neccesary to field a team.
 
There is no limit to the amount of teams allowed per state/province but all state reps MUST be approved in advance by the State Wars Hockey office.   To be considered for a state franchise the individual must officially contact State Wars Hockey by May 1.  If and once approved, the state franchise representative will receive a team packet that must be completed and received by June 1 in the State Wars Hockey office.  Each team may have up to 12 skaters and 2 goalies or a minimum of 8 skaters and 1 goalie.  Each player will receive custom designed home and away state jerseys.  The fee is $140 per player (if a team wishes to receive team pants as well, the cost is an additional $50 per player).  All payments must be received by June 1.  
 
If a player is already playing on a Junior/Senior  Division team also, the cost for the second division will only be $75 (as they will not receive another set of jerseys).
 
Residency rules: a player may play for the state they live in full time or the state where they go to college.  If a player has moved since the last State Wars event they participated in, they may still play for the home state they previously played with.  However, once a player plays for the new state they live in they must continue to do so unless they move again.  This rule applies for All open divisions.

SELECT JUNIOR (1990 & younger)
This division is for players born in 1994-1990. (players born in 1995 or 1996 are allowed to play in the Junior Division, only if they are already playing in their birth year divisions.  The Junior Division is not a replacement for a birth year division).

SELECT SENIOR (1996 or older)

Elite AAA, AA, and A levels this year!

There is no limit to the amount of teams allowed in the new ELITE AAA Division.  Considering the $10,000 money prize for this division, it is open to as many teams that are interested.
 
AA and A divisions will come on a first come first served basis!

SELECT WOMEN'S
This division is for all female players

This division is for all female players born in 1996 or after.

SELECT MASTERS (35 & Over)
This division is for players born in 1978 or before. 

Each state team must have a franchise representative that must be approved by State Wars Hockey Inc.  To be considered for a state franchise the individual must officially contact State Wars Hockey by May 1.  If and once approved, the state franchise representative will receive a team packet that must be completed and received by June 1 in the State Wars Hockey office.  Each team may have up to 12 skaters and 2 goalies or a minimum of 8 skaters and 1 goalie.  Each player will receive custom designed home and away state jerseys.  The fee is $140 per player (if a team wishes to receive team pants as well, the cost is an additional $50 per player).  All payments must be received by June 1.  If division is split into AAA and AA divisions, a State may have 2 teams in each.  There traditionally are two skill level divisions in the Masters Division, AAA and AA.

The birth year dictates if a player is eligible to play, so even if a player turns 35 after the event this August, they are still eligible to play if they are born in 1977.

SPECIAL NOTES
The goal of each team is to field the strongest possible state team based on the structured rules and regulations set forth. This format will allow for an even playing field. Teams typically made up of star players from several different states will not be permitted to participate and therefore every team has a fair chance to win. This format encourages players in each state to work together towards a common goal.

  • All players MUST live in the State/Province they are playing for. See the General Info page for the residency requirements.  (see above notes on residency rules as well)
  • Players 35 years of age or older may play in both Select Senior and Select Masters divisions if able.
  • Female players may play in both a youth division (if selected at their State Tryout) and the Select  Girls or Women's division if able.
  • For any player participating in the Juggernaut, Select Junior, Select Senior, Select Women's or Select Masters division as their 2nd team at STATE WARS the player fee will be $75 (as this player will only recieve one set of state jerseys).
  • If any player is interested in a spot on either a Select Junior, Select Senior, Select Women's or Select Masters team please email the State Wars Hockey office and we will forward your info to the state franchise representative.
